Description:
For the first time, New Mexico State University will offer a bachelor`s degree completion program in Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Management via distance education. Designed to serve community college students enrolled in business, this distance education program targets location-bound students whose work or family commitments interfere with pursuing studies on the NMSU campus. Students who receive their Associate`s Degree in Business or related fields, now have the opportunity to continue their education into a four-year online degree program in Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Management. SAVOR prepares students for management positions in the rapidly growing tourism and hospitality industry. With an academic background tailored to meet industry needs, HRTM students graduate ready to succeed in the world`s greatest industry. Requirements:
The student should have substantially completed NMSU?s general education requirements, as well as other business courses including financial accounting and economics. Students must be admitted to NMSU and should contact the School of Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Management at 505-646-5995 to express their interest in this distance education program.


Required Courses:
The degree requires a minimum of 128 credits with 54 at the upper division. Students from Northern New Mexico College, as well as other colleges, who have earned an Associate of Arts in Business Administration will be able to transfer approximately 62 credits into the HRTM degree program. Remaining coursework (69 credits) will be available via WEBCT. This includes 42 credits of HRTM core courses, 9 credits of HRTM electives and 18 credits of other coursework. Additionally, all students must complete 400 hours of practical work experience and 400 hours of internship to meet degree requirements.
