The Extended University (EU) at the University of New Mexico was established in 1999 to coordinate the institution`s distance education programs. Using a variety of delivery formats, including instructional television, Internet, correspondence, and on-site delivery, the Extended University is bringing education to the state of New Mexico.

New Media and Extended Learning (NMEL), a division of Extended University, is responsible for the administration of online courses at the University of New Mexico. Any student working around scheduling problems, full-time employment, or who lives at a distance from the main campus, may want to consider taking a class online as a way to advance their education. Classes are completed electronically from a computer with World Wide Web access. Online classes are taught on a semester basis. The classes are offered for University credit and follow the regular University course schedule.

All University admissions and registration deadlines, policies, and procedures apply to students who participate in online courses.
