Wikipedia provides a simple definition of eLearning: "E-learning most often means an approach to facilitate and enhance learning through the use of devices based on computer and communications technology."
We like the definition created by Mountain Quest Institute because of its emphasis on the human factor: 'eLearning is enabled learning, learning in a virtual world where technology merges with human creativity to accelerate and leverage the rapid development and application of deep knowledge.'
To help you determine if eLearning is right for you, we have created an eLearning Self-Evaluation. We also provide more information about what is required of eLearning students in the Getting Started section. We also provide a Useful Links section for resources on the Internet useful to eLearning students.

The following are the general technology requirements for eLearning courses. Check with the eLearning provider (i.e. instructor) for any special technology requirements.
Once you have identified a course you would like to take (browse the list of available courses here), you will need to contact the institution, by clicking on the name of the institution in the course description. Each institution has a slightly different process as well as personnel available to answer any questions you have, no matter where you live in the state.
That depends on the rules of the school offering the course. Some schools offer special student registration for those interested in only taking one or two courses. Again, you will need to contact the institution, by clicking on the name of the institution in the course description.
The institution sets the cost of each course, so you will need to contact the institution using the link in the course description.
It depends on the school in which you are enrolled, but in many cases the courses are transferable. If you are wanting to take a course for concurrent high school credit, you will need to get approval from your high school. If you are wanting to take a course to transfer to your home college or university, you will need to check with them regarding transferability of eLearning courses.
We have provided definitions of the different delivery methods. Click here to read these definitions.
Many institutions offer financial aid. You will need to contact the institution to find out how to apply for financial aid from that school or organization. A general overview of financial aid can be accessed by clicking here.
