Description:
The Master of Arts in Sociology provides additional training in research design and interpretation, managing diversity, organizational analysis and program evaluation, and the assessment and management of social change. The degree provides advanced scientific tools and procedures to understand individuals, groups, work units, organizations and communities.

Requirements:
A bachelor&#146;s degree form an accredited institution is required. It is expected that students will have taken an undergraduate course in sociological theory, research methods and statistics. For those who have not had undergraduate training in theory, methods and statistics, these 3 courses are available through the online BA program.


Required Courses:
<p>Students will take a minimum of 37 credit hours of graduate work distributed as follows:</p> <ul> <li>SOC 501, SOC 551, SOC 552, SOC 553 (10 credits), to be taken within the first 18 hours of graduate credit. A grade of B or better is required to receive credit for each of these core courses.</li> <li>27 credits of additional graduate course work to be taken in consultation with the sociology graduate student`s advisor. Eighteen of these 27 credits must be in Sociology. Under the coursework only option students may choose to complete a special research project.</li> </ul>
